Youth Program

Frank-Villa250.jpgYouth & High School Clubs

Colorado Bass Nation Youth Clubs allow Kids to get involved in the great Colorado outdoors and to learn from anglers who really know what they are doing. CBN anglers volunteer their time to help kids of all abilities and knowledge become better anglers. The youth events are designed as a learning experience and we don't concentrate on a tournament format.  Kids are allowed to join a Jr. Club from age 8-18 years old.

Recently, Colorado Bass Nation started the High School division. Kids that are beginning their high school career are allowed to join immediately following there 8th grade year and they can compete till the end of their 12th grade year.  High School teams can hold their own events as they wish but are encouraged to attend the Jr. Bass Club monthly meetings to get any new information that may be coming from BASS or CBN. The CBN, holds a Colorado High School State Team Championship Tournament every year, teams from any BASS Nation affiliated High School club may compete.

High School Teams consist of 2 High School competitors of the same school and their boater/coach. There may be more than one team per High School. Currently there are 7 High School teams in Colorado but we are hoping to start more. The 7 represented are Front Range Bassmaster's (3 teams), which consists of Adams County High Schools, Jefferson County Bassmasters (1 team) representing Jefferson County High Schools, Bucket Mouth Busters (1 team) representing Erie HS, Weld Central Rebels (1 team), and the Windsor Wizards (1 team).
If you are interested in joining one of these teams or you would like to start your own BASS Nation
Bass Fishing Club at your High School please contact CBN Youth Director Frank Villa for more information.

CBFN Junior Bassmasters

bass_youth100.pngThe Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) and The Colorado Bass Nation (CBN) understand the importance of promoting our youth. With help from 3 of our adult clubs the CBN promotes youth angling by supporting Junior Bass Clubs currently on the Front Range of Colorado with hopes to have more possibly on the Western Slope. The clubs consist of the Northern Colorado Junior Bass Club, affectionately known as the Fighting Fishsticks, based out of the tri-city area of Northern Colorado (Greeley, Ft Collins, Loveland), The Denver Junior Bassmasters covers the central portion of Colorado and is based in the Denver area. >>> read more

Fighting Fishsticks: aka The Northern Colorado Junior Bassmasters

Our Junior Club is sponsored by the Centennial Bass Club of Northern Colorado (www.centennialbass.com), with members acting as mentors and educators for our young anglers. Junior members gain skills by participating in meetings and tournaments along with helping our adult club with conservation projects and other events, including sportsman expos and adult tournaments. >>> read more

C.Phillips_and_Jrs.jpgDenver Jr. Bassmasters

The Denver Jr. Bassmasters (DJBM) was the first B.A.S.S. Youth club west of the Mississippi and part of a grass-roots initiative by Bass Anglers Sportsmans Society (B.A.S.S.) DJBM was created by the Denver Bassmasters (DBM) for the sole purpose of reaching out to Colorado's youth and expose them to bass fishing and the outdoors.

DJBM is open to youth ages 8 to 18. No experience or equipment is required for participation. The focus of the club is simple: learn, catch fish, and have fun in a family oriented setting. DJBM is run solely by the DBM, volunteers, parents, and mentors who want to share time and knowledge with the kids. Hopefully just one thought, one bit of experience shared with the kids will make them better prepared to take on life's challenges.

Josh_wins.jpgJosh Villa Angles for State Title!

Josh Villa is a member of the Colorado BASS High School State Team Fishing Champions, with his teammate Bailey Smith, and will be going to the National Championship at Kentucky Lake in July!  But fishing is not Josh’s only talent!

Josh_Villa_Champion.JPGVilla, who attends Windsor High School, won the Colorado High School 4A State Wrestling Championship at 113lbs. Entering the tournament he was Ranked #2 behind Michael Ramirez from Pueblo South HS. Josh and Michael met in the finals and Josh pinned Michael at the 5:52 mark of the 6 minute match.  Josh was down 5-0 and scored his 1st points during the 2nd period. Josh's relentless style and never give up attitude kept him going. Congrats to Josh Villa, the 2014 Colorado High School State Wrestling Champion!
