JWC National Champion: RYAN WOOD!

Posted by on November 5, 2013

Ryan_Wood_JWC_1.jpg    The Bassmaster Junior World Championship, October 26, 2013, is the day Ryan Wood will remember fondly for years to come as he earned the title of National Champion on the Arkansas River, Russellville, AR.  Ryan worked hard for a long time, rising to the top over and over again, from Junior Club level, to the Colorado BASS Federation Nation State Team at the Western Divisional, and finally to the National Championship Tournament, to claim the everlasting title of National Champion!

Fishing the Arkansas River Pool 9, below the Lake Dardanelle Dam, Ryan won the 11-14 age group division of the Junior World Championship with a limit of bass and a total weight of 8-14.  He was quoted on saying, ““It’s amazing, fantastic, unbelievable,” said Wood, who fishes at home with the Denver Junior Bassmasters. “It’s all that times a million.””
Ryan reported catching his limit by fishing main channel levee points with current using crankbaits, and some slower water with drop-shot.  He even modified his crankbaits by spray painting them black to match reports he had researched.
Ryan also earned a $5,000 college scholarship and a Triton Alliance package from Triton Boats, Mercury Motors, Lowrance Electronics, and Motorguide.
