Day 2 of the Colorado BASS Nation State Team Qualifier at Lake Tenkiller

Posted by nation on May 20, 2016

The top anglers make a few moves on the 2nd day of the event at Lake Tenkiller, OK, as the slot limit plays a factor.  All fish between 13- and 16-inches must be released, so anglers must find the sweet-spot between bigger fish and finding a limit to bring in.

Nate Caldwell maintained his Boater category lead with a 2nd day bag weighing 14.71 lbs.  Going into the final day, he has a total weight of 31.57 and a ¾ lb. lead of rookie Ray Archer, who moved up by bringing in the heaviest sack of the day weighing 17.01, giving Archer a new total of 30.80 lbs.  Derek Phillips stays in the top 3 but dropped one spot with a new total of 28.52 lbs.  He is followed by Jeremiah Hofstetter (26.93), and Jerry Brown (25.41.)  Brown landed the day’s biggest smallmouth bass weighing in at 5.43 lbs.  The Day 2 Big Bass was landed by Chad Phillips, a 5.83 lb. largemouth.

On the Non-boater side, Kirk Albrecht moved into first place with a 2nd day total of 16.80 lbs.  Marin Marinov follows the lead by just over a pound, now standing in 2nd with 15.71 lbs.  Bob Howard landed in 3rd place with 15.62 lbs. and Steve Ehrman moved into 4th at 14.26 lbs.  5th place on Day 2 is Don Evans with 13.21 lbs.  Chuck Harrison (8th) landed the largest back-boat bass with a nice 4.82 lb. fish.

Audrey McKenney reports from the lake that the slot regulation is making it tough for these anglers competing for a spot on the State Team.  She says the bite changed as the weather became more stable and dock-talk says that senko-style baits are now the top fish catcher.

Last day of the event coming up!
