CBN STQT at Grand Lake, OK: Day One

Posted by on June 11, 2013

The Colorado Bass Nation State Team Qualifying Tournament (STQT) starts Day One with Brad Bennett  of Rocky Mountain Bass Club in the lead, weighing 16.23 lbs.  Grand Lake O’Cherokees is fishing hot!  And so are the conditions, as the air temps were over 100-degrees and the water temps at 80-degrees in water that is stained to “chocolate milk.”

“There are a lot of new STQT participants this year,” said CBN President Audrey McKenney, a welcome change from recent years.  There are 27 boaters and 26 non-boaters, doubling last year’s attendance, for a total of 53 anglers.

The Biggest Bass on Day One was caught by Trevor Scott of Centennial, who brought in a 4.47 lb. bass to beat out several others over 4 lbs.  Not to be missed, Trevor Carpenter of Denver Bassmasters landed the smallest keeper so far at 1.39 lbs.
