Frank_V_during_practice.jpgToday launched the first day of the Colorado Bass Nation State Team Qualifying Tournament at Grand Lake, OK.  This three day event will seat a Team to represent the Colorado Bass Nation at the 2015 BASS Nation Western Divisional event.  Cold temps and high winds have put a damper on the practice days but today the competition gets real, and the Top 12 will make the State Team!

Tuesday night the Colorado BASS Nation held the Pre-tournament meeting at Martins Landing to make final preparations for the launch of this event early this morning.  State President Audrey McKenney reports that as part of that meeting, “We had a successful fund-raiser last night and we greatly appreciate all the donations from our sponsors and members!”  Members and clubs provided prizes for the fundraiser as did many of the Alliance Program State sponsors.

Larry_T_during_practice.jpgAudrey also reports that the winds were mild to calm this morning at the launch, but the contenders were permitted to trailer to other locations because of predicted high winds.  She says that by late morning the winds had indeed picked up and were forecast to be 20-30 mph before the 4 pm weigh-in.

After the Day 1 weigh-in, Audrey stated, “It was feast or light meals, today,” as there were only seven limits of bass.  But the weights were heavy for those with numbers, as expected, “Derek Phillips and Dave Didomenico were on fire!” she said, “Derek had 19.61 lbs. and Dave had 17.41 lbs. for a total boat weight of 37 lbs.  We also have three rookies currently in the Top 10 after Day 1, Rob Satterwhite Jr., Connor Santos, and Jeremiah Smith.”
