2015 Clear Lake Western Divisional, Day 1

2015 CO State Team, ctsy Bassmaster.com.jpg     The 2015 BASS Nation Western Divisional at Clear Lake, CA started this year with a fog delay for an hour and a half, creating concern during the important morning bite, according to many anglers who anticipated an early limit of eager plus-sized largemouth bass. Despite the delay there were some great bass caught and the next two days of the three day event only promises to be better.

Day 1 fog, Clear Lake Div 2015, ctsy Jeremiah Hofstetter.jpg     Colorado State Team member Jeremiah Hofstetter posted this picture during the morning fog delay, while the boats still sat at the docks with frosty decks. He was the 5th boat out on Day One and was concerned that the early bite may disappear with the rising sun. That concern faded as he returned for the early flight weigh-in, was the first CO angler to weigh-in, and managed to hold the Colorado lead with 15 lb. 4 oz. while almost all of the other anglers played catch-up. That is until Larry Triplett jumped into first place late in the weigh-in and leads the Colorado Team on Day One with a total bag of 17-9, moving Hofstetter into second place .              Pic: ctys of Jeremiah Hofstetter

During the weigh-in several anglers commented that the bite had been better during practice. A cold front moved in bringing rain and very cool temps during the official practice days, moving fish out of shallow water and off beds. Today was the first day after the front and the rest of the tournament’s weather forecast is for much warmer, sunnier days giving anglers the hope is that the bags will grow heavy as the fish move back up.
