2014 State Team Profiles

Posted by nation on June 14, 2013

The 2013 Colorado Bass Federation Nation State Team Qualifying Tournament was held June 9-13, 2013 at Grand Lake O’Cherokees, OK, where anglers competed to earn a place on the State Team.  Here is the most current list of the top finishing anglers who have made the 2014 Colorado BASS Nation State Team and are qualified to represent Colorado at the BASS Nation Western Divisional to be held at Noxon Rapids Reservoir, Trout Creek, MT, May 19 -23, 2014.

The Top 6 finishers qualify as boaters at the Divisional event while the next 6 will participate as non-boaters, with the 13th place finisher as the designated alternate.  The top finishing Colorado Angler at the Divisional event earns the title of Colorado State Champion and will go on to represent Colorado at the next BASS Nation National Championship for a chance to make it to the Bassmasters Classic!
Also, the Colorado High School Youth Champions will be part of the State Team and their weight will be included in the total weight of the State Team in the State to State competition.
If for any reason a qualifying angler cannot attend the event the next contestant will move up to fill that spot in the order that they qualified in.

State Team: 2014 is my 4th, I think.

Favorite Lure/Style: Jig N Pig, or anything finesse with a spinning rod, and cranking…basically whatever will get me bit.

I cut my teeth in the bigger tournament scene in the past few years as I have moved from Colorado to Texas.  I am very grateful for the opportunity to fish on Colorado’s team even though I have moved from the state.  This will likely be my last go around and I am looking forward to helping colorado succeed in the team side of the event.

Club: Denver Bassmasters.
State Team: 2014 Rookie!
Favorite Lure/Style: I really enjoy the close combat of flipping/pitching, and I feel my best technique is Finesse!   A 5” Senko.
A 3-year member DBM, I have met a lot of great people who will be friends for life. Being in DBM has given me opportunities I would have not otherwise
experienced, i.e. volunteering with juniors and special needs children, habitat
and conservation projects, and helps me strive to get better in every way of
life.
It means SO much to me! I know how hard it is to make the State Team and I may never get this opportunity again, so I plan to enjoy every minute and represent myself and my Team with the utmost Honor!
I would like to thank my Fiancé Tiffany for supporting me in every way!; my parents for getting me into fishing; Mike Hobson for getting me hooked on Bass Fishing; and everyone I have fished with over the years giving me the knowledge and tools to be successful.

Club: Centennial Bass Club

State Team: 2008, ‘10, ‘11, ’13, ’14.
I am proud to make the state team for Colorado.  It is more and more difficult
each year to qualify and motivates me to work harder to become a better
tournament fisherman.
My favorite style of fishing is any type of power fishing, preferably with large lures such as swim baits where I know when I get a bite, it's probably big one.
